Simplifying Parenting Choices: Exploring the Maxi Cosi Cassia Swing
When it comes to my parenting retail philosophy – the take is simple: Buy less, but buy the best. It’s the same philosophy I carried through all three of my children, all born with a five-year age gap.
Between plenty of moves, it was also impossible to store their things for the next ones. I bought less, but I spent my money and bought things that made my life convenient, required little to no maintenance, and never felt the need to replace a product, and as I hear through the grapevine, many kids of cousins and neighbors are still using some of those products.
Call me old school, call me superficial – But when a brand establishes its name over years and thousands of products sold promising one particular deliverable, my bet would be to buy the narrative.
All three of my kids used the Maxi Cosi car seat. That was a no-brainer decision. The years of research, the many awards won for safety, the dozen types of safety trials, and the RnD cost – as a marketer myself I know companies won’t push for certain ad points unless they knew they could back them up. I was a satisfied customer.
With my older two kids, the story of raising them was different. We were doing a little stint on a farm and there were swings hanging from trees. My eldest daughter used to run after chickens and ducks. I had plenty of first-time mom energy to chase her around.
But as is the law of nature, age, and backache have an invariable way of catching up with all of us. By the
time I discovered I was unexpectedly pregnant with my third, we had traded our farm life for a small flat in the middle of the city and I was living a nocturnal life, employed by a company on the other end of the world and running on their time.
This meant that for sure as I stayed awake all night matching the hours of my office on the opposite side of the world, my little one would either follow the same semi-permanent jet lag state, or I would have to come up with creative ways to entertain or soothe her.
For the first time ever, I decided to get a baby swing seat. A little bummed about how this child was going to grow up in a concrete jungle and this was the only swing I could potentially offer in the initial years; I made the mental note of making sure it was going to the best I could find.
Swings are said to provide a safe environment for babies to play in and can help them develop balance and coordination. Additionally, cassia electric swing are great for providing entertainment and can keep babies occupied while their parents are busy. I knew I was about to put to test all of these promises of how it’s the most perfect substitute for a mother’s swinging arms.
I tried exploring different brands, but between new companies flooding the markets and products focused more on toys and mobiles, I found myself reverting back to my trusted brands. And as soon as I discovered the Maxi Cosi Cassia Swing, I knew the search had ended.
But here’s where the kicker came in – I went in expecting a somewhat car seat looking bouncer where I would have to paddle the child to sleep, excuse my brain still functioning from the boomer era, but the fact that it was a smart device completely wowed me.
Maxi Cosi Cassia Swing – Features
Automatic Motion Detection:
This truly lived up to the promise of being a spare set of hands. The Maxi Cosi Cassa Swing came equipped with automatic motion detection that can detect when your baby starts to get fussy and will automatically either adjust the speed of the swing to soothe the baby back to comfort or if the baby starts moving too much, then it will automatically stop the swing to prevent any injury of discomfort.
The motion detection feature was especially useful for the times when I was in the kitchen with my hands full or taking another one of those meetings that could’ve been an email and couldn’t shut the video off to soothe the baby back. As I found out later from younger more tech-savvy moms later Automatic motion
detection also helps conserve energy and prolong the life of the swing.
Soothing Lullaby’s and White Noise:
The swing was definitely smarter than me because not only did it immediately detect when the baby was starting to get fussy and needed a little more intense hug and rocking, but it was also equipped with the option of 12 sweet melodies that babies could enjoy.
And in case all of these failed, there were different white noise options available too. My baby picked a favourite literally from the first day and then it became the special trick to put her to sleep whenever we wanted to. Only drawback to the feature was I had to guzzle a few more liters of coffee because the white noise options were calming enough to put me to sleep as well.
5 Point Harness:
While the swing did come with a reasonably sized seat to ensure even slightly bigger babies fit comfortably, it was also equipped with a 5 point harness to avoid any accidental onset of the child tipping over or slipping. This was proven to be good even on babies that were certified squirmers.
Touch Screen Panel:
This swing features a large, full-color LCD touchscreen that is incredibly intuitive and easy to navigate. It allows parents to easily customize the swing settings to meet their baby’s needs, including adjustable speed settings and volume control.
Additionally, it also connected with a phone app seamlessly whereby you could control the swing while you were in the kitchen or the shower. The LCD screen was simple enough to be used by my mother-in-law as well who I requested (albeit rarely) to babysit for me.
Luxury Finish:
The product was built with the softest fabric and came in high-end finishing to ensure that even if you were unlike me and had swanky apartment décor, it would fit right in and give you a boogie feel. Like all other Maxi Cosi products, the fabric was also washable because we all know these little ones tend to have multiple spit-up episodes.
Sometimes even diaper leaks. But the fact that this nice soft and fancy fabric was also easily removable and
washable was an essential requirement conveniently catered to.
All in all, much like the rest of my products, the swing was a breeze literally from setting it up to pairing it with the phone to learning to use it. Thankfully my youngest one also loved it, be it the calm and soothing rocking motion or the white noise that accompanied it.
It was my babysitting partner for many long work nights.
