V-Tech Smart Baby Monitor – A Photography Loving Mothers Solid Companion

First pregnancy for most mothers is an exciting new time. It’s a journey of emotional self-
discovery, surprise at the elasticity of your own body, navigation through maternity wards
and gynecological visits, going down a rabbit hole of baby items and the subsequent shock
that comes with the realization of exactly how expensive baby products are, followed of
course – by the naïve resolve of each first-time parent – everything is absolutely necessary
and everything has to be the best.

After years of trying when we finally got the news of our little boy coming, I was thrilled. As
a professional photographer, I suddenly felt like I’d get to live out my dream of
photographing my own child through the years. Our dog Jackie may finally no longer be the
most photographed member of the family. As the baby shower drew closer and I made a
potential registry, of course, I also Googled extensively on what my preferred brands were, and like a jumpy first-time mother, also wanted to try as many items out as I could before
putting them down.

Friend’s Advice, Monitor Frustration: Seeking Clarity in Baby Monitor Choices.

I called all my existing mom’s friends and asked to bounce over and see the stuff they had
used and get their recommendations. How every single mother has an entire encyclopedia
of product reviews ready is a story for another day, however. I quickly figured that baby
monitors are something right at the top of the list. I started asking friends what the best
brands were and what their experiences were. To my surprise however, as soon as I started
seeing the ones my friends used, my biggest pet peeve was how green, grainy, and night
vision-like their views were. Seeing one of my friends proudly telling me all the features of
her WiFi Baby Monitors, I couldn’t help but feel like I was looking into the camera screen of some
National Geographic videographer who’s secretly stationed their camera in the jungle to
hopefully catch the movement of some wild jungle cat.

I mentioned this to my sister a couple of days later. A nurse in the pediatric ER chuckled and
told me that’s because I make a living viewing the world from behind the best lenses
available. She had seen me constantly upgrading all my gadgets to ensure the best color
range and compatible displays all my life. To me, it felt like a cruel joke; that despite having
the best filmography equipment, when I wanted to look at my own child, I would have to
downgrade to a grainy, low Rgb range.

From Frustration to Discovery: Exploring VTech’s Impressive Features.

Bummed but not ready to give up I sat down and punched in HD vtech baby monitors with the
best displays. Google thankfully never really disappoints and promptly led me to V-Tech
Upgraded Smart Baby Monitor
.
– It boasted a 1080p camera
– HD video that was compatible with my smartphone
– It has options to tilt pan, and zoom, and even has two-way communication
– It has motion sensors.

As someone whose bundle hadn’t arrived yet
I do admit to wondering what the purpose of the two-way communication with an infant
would be – but those were just the thoughts of a woman who hadn’t experienced
motherhood yet and expired pretty quickly after Junior came home.

Choosing Quality: Investing in a Premium Baby Monitor.

This was something I eventually decided not to put in the registry and buy myself. I decided to go with the vtech vm901 baby monitor. The price point was slightly higher than other available options in the market, but a good
quality display was something I wasn’t willing to compromise on.

Temperature Sensor

The V-Tech smart baby monitor also carried high-sensitivity motion and temperature
sensors that also alerted about the humidity levels. I was alerted each time Jackie entered
the nursery to sniff the crib, and could also gauge the temperature to see if that may be the
bothering factor if the baby was restless.

The only issue I had was that I felt the batteries needed to be replaced more frequently than
what I expected. At this point though I am unsure if it’s because I’m using the device round
the clock even when the baby isn’t there and I’m spying on Jackie with it, or because I’m
using a weaker brand of batteries and should experimenting with changing that. Whatever
the case may be, my initial discomfort at the idea of having to downgrade my camera
equipment just for a baby monitor didn’t come to pass thankfully. And so long as I had great
display with an extendable router range, changing the batteries was a tradeoff I happily
made.
